Derby dates for 2016 announced

Next season’s cricket fixtures have been released, sending Bridlington and Sewerby players and suppporters looking for the dates for their two derby matches.

The teams go head-to-head for the first time on Saturday, June 18 at Sewerby, and they meet again towards the end of the season, on Saturday, August 20, at Dukes Park.

Despite a major restructure of the cricket leagues across Yorkshire, both clubs will operate in York Senior League Division One in 2016.

Bridlington begin with a short trip to Folkton and Flixton on Saturday, April 16, while Sewerby are on home soil for their opener against Malton and Old Malton.

The following week sees Bridlington taking on Malton, while Sewerby are also away at promoted Selby.

The season finishes on September 10, and Bridlington’s fate will be decided at Patrington, while Sewerby welcome Harrogate 2nds to the clifftop.

Bridlington ended the 2015 season in sixth spot, missing out on the fourth promotion place by just 27 points.

Sewerby were next to bottom but stay in Division One because of the league restructuring.

Thefixture list also gives both sides fixtures against Beverley 2nds, Hornsea, Osbaldwick, Pocklington and Whitkirk.
