Will Norman (59) and Grant Halder (48) were the backbone of Driffield’s innings, as they made 214-8.

Three wickets each from Johnny Anderson (3-31) and Jamie Greavson (3-16) put Pickering in trouble and even though Isaac Christopher made a half-century, the visitors were never in a position to challenge the target.

Driffield won by 94 runs but should they make the top two they would be ineligible for promotion with their first string already competing in the Yorkshire Premier League North.

Studley Royal missed the chance to make up ground at the top, as Beverley Town won by 34 runs on their travels.

Bevverley captain Anthony Spence gave his side the initiative with 86 and Harry Gamble (56) made his second half-century in two weeks.

Town got to 223-7. Royal’s Rob Mackle took 3-47 and followed it up with a 50, but despite his efforts and an unbeaten 56 from Joshua Chandler, the hosts were bowled out for 189, Kieran Thompson taking 3-42.

In Division One, Malton & Old Malton remain on course for position despite finsing Selby’s last pair in stubborn mood.

Thomas Bumby (51) was another batsman to complete back to back half-centuries, and Shaun Harland also passed 50 as Malton piled up 269-8.

Stuart Watmore was once again in the wickets, but despite his 3-22 the home side reached the close on 187-9.

Malton remain in second spot.

Folkton & Flixton were another of the top five to miss out on victory, with batsmen very much on top in their game against Sewerby.

Fine knocks by Richard Malthouse (77), Jamie Nesfield (70) and Will Hutchinson (60) punished Sewerby’s bowlers and left them chasing a target of 290-8.

Undaunted, Sewerby stood up to the test and finished on 241-7. In-form Scott Cooper enjoyed the trip back to one of his former sides, making 85, and captain Adrian Long backed him up with a half-century.

Flixton’s Harry Walmsley and Sewerby’s Harry Gunning both picked up three wickets on an expensive day for the bowlers.

Beverley Town 2nds won their East Yorkshire derby against Bridlington, an enthralling contest which was decided off the final ball.

Momentum shifted in the final stages, as the visitors looked to be heavy favourites when Beverley were reduced to 111-5.

But Town made 40 from the final six overs to put daylight between the two sides at the wrong end of the table.

Batting first, Bridlington had made 203-7, with contributions from captain Simon Leeson (41) and his predecessor Sam Edmundson (48).

Brad Dobson’s 88 proved to be a match-winning innings for Town as they recovered from a perilous position in the middle of their reply to snatch the result at the death.

Pocklington and Patrington fought out a draw with each side indebted to a stand-out batting performance for their share of the points.

Andrew Anderson backed up last week’s 72 with a century as Pocklington scored 227-8, and Brian Butler made an equally impressive unbeaten 85 in the visitors’ final total of 212-7.

Scarborough 2nds got back to winning ways with a nine-wicket win at Malton & Old Malton 2nds in Ebor Division Two.

An opening stand of 179 between Neil Elvidge and Charlie Roberts meant the result was a formality. Elvidge was unbeaten on 81, to go with bowling figures of 3-44 earlier in the afternoon, while Roberts fell nine runs short of a century with the scores tied.

Yapham’s Mike Newhouse took 5-40 but was on the losing side as Pickering 2nds brought the visitors recent good form to end.

Matt Butler (45), and Les Welburn (32) helped set up Pickering’s first innings total of 154, with Welburn (3-24) starring with the ball as he helped bowl out Yapham for 112.
