Bridlington hosted Folkton and Flixton in a pre-season friendly.
The home team batted first with Casey Rudd (31) and Simon Leeson (23) playing well, putting on 46 for the first wicket.
After a promising start the middle order was unable to fully capitalise and the innings closed on 144 all out with only Nick Tennant (28) and Andrew Leeson (22) making notable contributions.
The pick of the bowlers was Zak with 3-16.
The Flixton reply started slowly with Malthouse and Zak playing cautiously as they put on 56 for the first wicket.
As with the home team’s innings, after the opening pair were dismissed, the innings stuttered along.
Only Stones with 23 and M Nesfield with 19 not out got going with the bat.
Six runs were needed from the final over but three wickets in three balls saw the visitors all out five runs short of victory.
This was a closely fought game and a good way to get the season underway. Bridlington’s first league match is at home to Osbaldwick this Saturday.
