Boxing show at Spa tomorrow
BOXING fans are in for a treat tomorrow (Friday) when the Bridlington Club For Young People's boxing section stages another night of amateur boxing at the Spa.
Adding spice to the evening, subject to final matching, is that no fewer than nine local boxers will feature on the expected 15 bout programme.
There was to have been three more club members involved, but George Horner, Tom Wray and Darren Boyes have had to withdraw due to them all boxing in the Yorkshire ABA Junior Championships at Havercroft on Sunday.
Head coach Damien Grant explained to the Free Press: “All three would definitely have been fighting at the Spa, but unfortunately the championships are on Sunday and that is a very important event in their careers.
“Everyone at the club wish them all the best for Sunday.
“It is a bit of a nightmare sometimes, trying to arrange matches for all the boxers, but we appear to have 15 matches at present involving nine local boxers.
“However the final programme line-up is dependant on everything fitting into place, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.”
Tickets cost 10, 5 concessions and can be obtained on the door which opens at 7.30pm.
