On a blisteringly hot day on the clifftop, Sewerby 3rds put on their best performance of the season so far.
After losing the toss and being asked to field by Fylingdales, the Sewerby opening bowlers Jack Newby 2-25 and John Searby 1-34 kept the top order batsmen quiet, scoring at a rate of only two runs per over. E
xcellent fielding kept Sewerby on top and a superb direct hit run-out from Jack Torbett saw the end of the dangerous Husband.
Tight bowling from Calvin Roche (2-22), and Torbett kept the pressure on, but it was the introduction of Matty Faulkner with 4-17 from his five overs which proved decisive as he ripped through the middle order.
The Fylingdales innings ended in the last over on 128, securing maximum bowling points for Sewerby 3rds.
The Sewerby response started shakily with both openers going cheaply but in-form Jack Newby (53) and Ben Lawry (47 not out) put on a superb stand of 97, dispelling all fears of a close encounter.
