Swimmers Grace and William Dennis recently enjoyed highly successful weekends while representing Bridlington in the North East Regional Age Group Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
The championships are a step up in class from County Championships and are one step away from the ultimate prize, the upcoming National Championships in July.

William, 10, competing at this level for the first time, coped well with the pressure and finished in the coveted top 10 places nine times, missing out only once.

He came close to a medal three times, gaining a fourth (100m back) and two fifth places (200m back and 100m breast).

Grace, 11, targeted this competition to gain the very tough National Championship qualifying times.

Her impressive training output paid dividends as she qualified for five finals out of the eight events she entered.

She particularly impressed in the three freestyle events (100m, 200m and 400m) in which she gained a gold, silver and a fifth respectively, sweeping up all three national qualifying times along the way.

Grace will now be training hard with Bridlington and Hull to get in the best shape possible for the end of July when she will be competing against the top 25 swimmers in her age group from across the UK.

She is the seventh fastest in the country for the 100m freestyle while William cannot qualify for the National Championships until he is 11.

Grace, William and their parents thank Geoff Edmonds and the coaching staff at Bridlington for their unerring dedication and support.
