AFTER two postponements, Bridlington Swimming Club finally held the 200m Breaststroke and Butterfly Championships at Leisure World pool.
It was one of the best attended for some time and it was a pleasure to see so many swimmers having a go, particularly at the more difficult butterfly.

They were all rewarded with at least one personal best and most achieved two.

Most of the events were closely contested and the atmosphere round the pool was good with swimmers cheering each other on.

Winners were presented with a trophy, medals went to the second and third places and pennants to fourth and fifth.

Result: 200m Breaststroke: 1 Joe Harvey, Georgina Marsh; 2 Adam Morland, Sophie Holdsworth; 3 James Holehouse, Rianna Manson; 4 Tom King, Jodie Marsh; 5 Matthew Cawkill, Tori Dickinson.

200m Butterfly 1 Joe Harvey, Georgina Marsh; 2 Adam Morland, Sophie Holdsworth 3 Brandon Lino, Yasmin Brown 4 Tom King, Sarah Witty 5 James Holehouse, Rebecca Smith. Well done swimmers.

A TEAM of 21, instead of the customary 32, took the long journey to Edlington for a Pocklington Times Gala.

Because the numbers were down most of the swimmers got extra races swimming up an age.

This was the first gala of the year and the first in the new division.
Coach Geoff Edmond was really pleased with all the swimmers and felt he could not have asked for more effort from those who went.

The swimmers found the pool unusual and the temperature at both ends varied considerably, the shallow being much warmer than the deep end.
Individual 100m winners were Wayne Oakley Breaststroke, Georgina Marsh Butterfly and Joe Harvey Freestyle and Backstroke.

Winning Freestyle relay teams were Brandon Lino, Jack Cowell, Matthew Cawkill and Tom King and Tori Dickinson, Charlotte Hornsey, Sophie Holdsworth and Rianna Manson.

All the swimmers did well and there were 28 personal best times achieved.
