Welcome sunshine greeted most fixtures on Saturday and a fine set of results ensued, many with exciting finishes.
In Division One bottom team North Dalton beat Rudston and Kilham by just three runs when almost 400 runs had been scored.

Dalton hit 195 for 6 with J Athey (50) and R Bradley (72) being top scorers. Rudston replied with S Harrison (81) and D Barron (50) leading the way. However, J Sudderby took 5 for 73 and a run out off the last ball ended their hopes.

In Division Two, another cliff-hanger was at Leven where Walkington were bowled out for 72. Leven replied disastrously being 40 for 9. However, a last wicket stand took them to one run behind when the final wicket fell.

The match between Old Hymerians and Hornsea proved equally fascinating. Hymer's skipper Rob Lowe batted throughout for 57 not out, whilst wickets tumbled at the other end. R Hornby caused the problems, taking three wickets in four balls as well as a hat-trick - some feat! The Old Boy's score of 108 proved insufficient but Hornsea lost 8 wickets before gaining victory.

One other match, however, proved a total miss match – that in Division Three between Hull Zingari and Yapham. Zingari scored what is believed to be a record score of 379 for 3 with M Bunn hitting 199 not out. Yapham scored 57 for 8 in their 40 overs. The Yapham skipper is questioning the eligibility of some of the Zingari players.

In Division Two, Driffield pulled off the result of the day, beating top-placed South Cave. Their R Gibson featured in both batting and bowling whilst young Olly Burdass chipped in with four wickets.

Brandesburton found Hessle's score of 178 for 9 too many although they did scrape a point at 108 for 8. Their first string had better luck in Division One. S Atkin was their top scorer in a total of 138 against Nafferton and he then excelled with the ball, taking 5 for 37 as Nafferton were dismissed for just 100.

Middleton had a comfortable victory over Hull Zingari, John Nesfield was top scorer with 81 and Proctor took 5 for 32 as Zingari were bowled out for 56.

Newport pressed on relentlessly, beating Flamborough by 9 wickets. Father and son Phillips took 3 wickets apiece their M Kirk (78no) and D Smith (50no) saw off Flamborough's total of 169 for 9.
