However, the club has learned this week that they are definitely relegated from the UniBond League. Club secretary Gavin Branton has received a letter from the league which confirms the relegation. The letter is published below in its entirety.

“I AM writing on behalf of the chairman, CEO and board of directors to just say we are all sorry to see Bridlington Town depart the Northern Premier League. Whilst your results on the pitch haven’t been amongst the best it has been a pleasure to have Bridlington Town in the league and hopefully the club will return soon in a stronger position to compete at this level. I can honestly say I cannot remember a single complaint regarding the club which is unusual in this day and age from either fellow member clubs or match officials.

“On a personal note it has been a pleasure to work with yourself and speaking to a lot of different clubs in recent weeks. I can state quite categorically that nobody has anything but the utmost respect for Peter who, in his role as chairman, has impressed many people in very difficult circumstances. Please ensure this letter is passed to him. Hopefully the relegation suffered may, in time to come, be viewed as a turning point in the fortunes of Bridlington Town giving it breathing space to strengthen and that the club will indeed return to the Northern Premier League where it will be most welcome.”
