Bridlington Cycling Club's time trial season continued with the Hilly 20 mile time trial on May 6, which despite having a headwind to the finish proved to be a fast night for all nine riders.
Mel Blackford showed his win the previous week was no fluke as he powered to the finish in a time of 45:32, beating Dave Compston into second place by 22 seconds with Andy Askwith a further 39 seconds back in third place. Martin Cockerill repeated hi
s fourth place of the previous week to finish in 47:23 and then there was a gap to Mick Brown who produced a personal best time of 52:53 to take fifth place from Adam Yates, enjoying his first attempt at this event and finishing sixth in 53:29. Jeff Thorley continued his run of good form with a personal best time of 54:09, just beating Graham Lonsdale by four seconds who improved his personal best by over 2 minutes and in ninth place came junior rider Chris Hutchinson, who produced another excellent ride to finish in 63:23 at this longer and more difficult event.

The following Thursday saw seven riders competing for the 13.7 mile time trial from Thorpe Hall to Octon and back. With some riders missing due to a clash of dates with a local road race, this was a non-points scoring event but riders still wanting to use it to improve fitness for the remaining season. Andy Askwith set the fastest time of 31:59 beating Stewart Pickard into second place (33:04). Chris Jordan set a personal best time of 36:36 for third place with Graham Lonsdale fourth, also in a personal best time, in 37:11, narrowly beating Jeff Thorley by one second but Thorley also had the satisfaction of a personal best time. Chris Hutchinson again set a competitive time to finish sixth in 44:36 with Mike Kneeshaw an ailing seventh in 45:06.
