MORE and more people are visiting local libraries.
During the past 12 months over 1.5 million people visited one of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s branch, travelling or mobile libraries, compared to just over one million the year before.

In the same period, the number of active borrowers – people who had borrowed an item in the past 12 months – rose from 53,711 to April 2006 to 69,850 in April 2007.

The council has improved buildings, bought new books and PCs and extended opening hours.
