Letter: Thank you for support over closure

Is North Bridlington Library set for closure?
Is North Bridlington Library set for closure?

Thank you for your coverage in the matter of library closure.

I have received several calls supporting my view but one from a council officer who said everyone is telling them what they shouldn’t do but no-one is making positive suggestions.

I am sure the community can suggest several options worth consideration.

Given the costs of redundancy involved in the closure of a library – while I believe retaining the building – would be to consider the council’s own expenses. Since the great reduction in petrol prices I can suggest reducing the mileage allowances paid to councillors and officers.

Perhaps other readers may have different opinions.

May I also add that though I was greatly honoured to be a named harbour commissioner for 12 years, I was never the chairman.
