Letter: Shame on the people who cut bus

Terminating the shuttle bus service will have an impact on people's lives.

Shame on the Scarborough and Ryedale Clinical Commissioning Group’s decision to terminate the shuttle bus service between Bridlington and Scarborough Hospitals.

It looks to me that not a lot of thought and consideration has gone into this decision made by the Scarborough and Ryedale Clinical Commissioning Group.

I find the criterion to terminate this service unacceptable because of the impact it will have on folks’ lives.

I must point out and draw the group’s attention to the promise made by the Independent Reconfiguration Panel in 2007 to undertake recommendations of extra funding into the ambulance service and to run a shuttle bus service between Bridlington Hospital and Scarborough Hospital.

I must also point out the group does have a responsibility of care to patients who need patient transport service whether they are eligible or not.

I suggest a formal complaint is made by the campaigners to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
