National Libraries Day was on February 6 so I popped into the one in town, in King’s Street, to show my support and was thrilled to find that I’d won a lovely goodie bag.
It contained a nice variety of books, some information and tickets to a writer’s talk at the North Library on Thursday February 18 by true crime author Paul Harrison.
I was planning to go to this talk anyway, so I was extra pleased to win free tickets to this event.
There is more going on at the library than many realise. It is not the stern and quiet venue of yesteryear.
They run some lovely, free to attend, groups, such as a book group, a knit and natter, and a writers’ group.
They also offer free wi-fi, have plenty of large print and audio books, as well as hosting all sorts of events.
I saw a fabulous John Godber production there last week. I would encourage anyone interested to pop in and chat to the friendly and helpful staff there, just to find out what is available.
