A cheque for £760 has been presented to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) by members of the Bridlington and Wolds Women in Business Group, following a successful charity race night.

The group decided to organise the event, which was held at Bridlington Golf Club, to help support the lifesaving work of Bridlington RNLI and to also highlight the group to other women who run their own business and encourage them to join.

The Bridlington and Wolds Women in Business Group meets once a month and provides an opportunity to network with like-minded people, share ideas.

Sylvia Wright, a member of the group and owner of the Lincoln Guest House, said: “Working together with other members of the Bridlington and Wolds Women in Business Group, we were able to put on a great event to help raise funds for a very worthy cause and put something back into the town.”

The cheque was greatly received by the RNLI, which is funded by charitable donations.

Andy Brompton, volunteer press officer at Bridlington RNLI, said: “On behalf of everyone at the lifeboat station, I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Bridlington and Wolds Women in Business Group for their very generous donation.

“The group must also be congratulated on all the hard work they put into arranging the event. Such support from the heart of the community is vital to the RNLI and ensures that our charity can continue saving lives at sea.”
