LIFEBOAT crews and the sea king helicopter were called after a 24-year-old woman had fallen from a passenger ferry around 20 miles North East of Flamborough Head.

Coastguards received a call at 8.48pm last night (Monday) with a report of a woman in the water, and

tasked Scarborough and Filey lifeboats, as well as the sea king helicopter from RAF Leconfield, to her rescue.

Before lifeboat crews reached the ferry, coastguards had received a call to say the 24-year-old woman had been brought back on board. She was then taken by helicopter to Scarborough Hospital.

The ferry had been travelling from Newcastle to Ijmuiden, in The Netherlands.
