A man is in hospital with serious leg injuries following an incident where fencing and concrete posts are believed to have fallen on him

The 24-year-old Bridlington man is in Scarborough hospital with serious leg injuries following the incident on private land near the railway track at St Christopher Road near the entrance to the ‘subway’ between St Wilfred’s Road and Wellington Road, Bridlington.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers were called to the scene by ambulance crews at around 8pm on Tuesday 2June, who had been called to treat a man for leg injuries after a section of fencing and concrete posts fell on him.

“He was said to be in the company of a group of other youths, who were alleged to be being obstructive to the Ambulance crew.

“East Riding Council attended and cordoned off the area to make it safe.

“The injured man was taken to Scarborough A&E where he remains and is being treated for serious injuries to his leg.”

Humberside Police are not appealing for any witnesses to the incident.

No child was hurt during the incident, contrary to what the Free Press was told yesterday.
