MEMBERS of the Spotlight Youth Theatre are celebrating after winning a prestigious prize.

Thirteen members of Spotlight Youth aged between 8 and 16 won the trophy for best youth entry at the All England Theatre Festival.

In total there were 12 plays entered in the North Eastern round of the festival, which took place at North Ferriby on Saturday April 2.

The Spotlight Youth’s entry, the Lambton Worm, won the trophy for the best youth entry and the Worm’s operators, Joanna Cragg and Sophie Peace, also won the adjudicators special award which was given this year for ‘a moment that the adjudicator found memorable’.

Three members of the cast were nominated in the best actor/ actress category.

They were Helena Blackburn as the Wise Old Woman of Chester Le Street, Alex Mills as Sir Luke and Mason Yousif as the Knight and Town narrator.
