A Bridlington couple who organised a Christmas presents appeal for serving soldiers would like to thank everyone who contributed.
Pete and Denise Davison, of Brentwood House, organised the appeal to show support to those who are risking their lives abroad.
Denise and Pete’s son Scott, 33, is currently serving as a dog handler in Afghanistan, and is helping his parents to distribute the Christmas boxes to servicemen on his base.
Pete and Denise, who have collected 85 boxes, are extremely happy with how the appeal has gone and are grateful that so many people have shown their support.
Pete said: “I would like to say a very special thank you to an 8 year-old little girl called Darcey, who knocked on my door and gave me a present with the message ‘to a very brave soldier’.”
The boxes filled with sweets, games, toiletries and puzzles were sent on Monday, each individually labelled with a soldier’s name.
Both Pete and Denise are hopeful the presents will help servicemen at what can be a very lonely time to be away from friends and family.
