A team of three fundraisers raised £260 for Help for Heroes over a day spent in Tesco.

Pete, 60 and Margaret Masters, 57 along with Margaret Drysdale held a stall at the Station Approach store, selling wristbands and collecting donations from shoppers.

Mr and Mrs Masters’ 24-year-old son, Aaron has been in the army air cops since he was 15, and has been on tours of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Mr Masters said: “Everyone we talked to on the day were more than generous. I think they feel that they need to support our guys. We can’t grumble, we were so grateful for everything we did get donated.

“Anything Help for Heroes ask us, we will put our names down for.”

The event was part of an annual fundraising drive by the charity across the weekend of Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 September.

Help for Heroes aims to create a national support network for service men and women and their families. For more information visit www.helpforheroes.org.uk
