THE Chairperson of Bridlington’s Talking Newspaper is appealing for new users, as member numbers are currently dwindling.
The completely voluntary organisation supplies a fortnightly recording of the Free Press to blind or partially sighted people.
Unfortunately the number of people receiving the service has decreased, from initially more than 100 down to 77, with few new requests being received.
Jackie Crowe, chairperson of the Talking Newspaper, said: “It would be great if anyone who knows of a blind or visually impaired person who would benefit from this service could get in touch with us. It would be such a shame to lose this service.”
Jackie and her husband Roger have recently produced a brochure and poster to increase knowledge of the service.
If you know of anyone who could benefit from the service, contact Mr or Mrs Crowe on 01377 240144, or speak to Peter Crawford at the Community Resource Centre on Victoria Road.
The Talking Newspaper will hold its annual general meeting on May 7, at 10.30pm, at the Resource Centre and new members are welcome to go along.
