A GROUP of hardworking teenagers have presented a cheque for £185.35 to the Katie Walker Cancer Trust.
The group of fifteen, aged between 14 and 19, planned, organised and carried out a charity event which saw the team set up a stall selling handmade buns and cakes at East Riding college.
The fifteen pupils, from both Bridlington and Headlands Schools, are taking a Health and Development Diploma at East Riding College, and were inspired to raise money for the Katie Walker Cancer Trust after hearing her story in school.
The trust was set up in 2007 and has raised thousands of pounds for teenage cancer care and research, and Katie’s parents, founders Mick and Julie Walker, accepted the cheque at East Riding college last week.
Julie Walker said: “We are very grateful to receive this fantastic amount, it really made our day when we heard the pupils had planned to do something for us. It goes to show that we have some really thoughtful, and hard working youngsters in the town who are willing to raise such a great total.”
