A NEW care service being launched to serve Bridlington will mean up to 50 new jobs.

Called Habito, the live-in care service is designed to offer an alternative to residential care for older people and those with disabilities to maintain an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own homes by having the support of their own professional live-in carer.

It is being launched in this area by Hessle based Caremark (East Riding), care company, which sees Bridlington with its high percentage of over 60s as a key area.

Offering long term and short term care including respite care its costs are similar to residential care home fees.

Karen Precious, Director of Caremark (East Riding) said: “There is a strong demand for this type of service to enable those people who do not want to move into residential care to remain in their own homes but still have round the clock care.

The costs, say Caremark, will be broadly in line with residential care but for a dedicated one to one service. “For some older people, and their families, the thought of giving up their home to move into residential care is extremely distressing. Habito removes that worry.

“We will provide a dedicated carer to look after their personal care needs and provide companionship as well as cooking meals and carrying out domestic duties.”

The service will also be available in other towns and villages across the East Riding.

Since Caremark (East Riding) launched its Hessle based business in July last year it has created more than 150 jobs across Hull and East Yorkshire and is an accredited supplier to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
