STAFF at the Co-operative store in Martongate, Bridlington, raised an impressive total for Mencap at a fun day last week.

The store hosted a day of family activities, including face-painting, a table top sale, guess the contents of a sweetie jar contest, and various stalls.

Live singers who are also participating in the Yorkshire Coast’s Got Talent competition entertained shoppers, including staff member Amy Cleal – who also helped organise the event – and beatboxer Daniel Richmond.

The store managed to raise a total of £310 on the day.

Vicky Rounding, supervisor at the Martongate store, said: “It was a really good day. The entertainment went down really well and everyone who came had a great time.

“We raised £310 on the day which is a great amount and we will carry on collecting.”

Staff at the Co-op shop in St John Street also got on their bike to raise £56 for Mencap.

Six members of staff took it in turns to ride 200-miles on an exercise bike in the store over the weekend. Unfortunately the monitor broke so the team do not know whether they cycled the full distance or further.

Sales assistant Simon Courtley said they all had good fun taking part and thanked the Blue Dolphin holiday park for the loan of the bike.
