PUPILS from Headlands School in Bridlington helped their local shop officially launch its charity of the year.

The Co-op store, in Martongate, along with all the other Co-op stores in Bridlington, will be raising money for Mencap through a number of fund-raising events and collections throughout the year.

The store has set itself a target of raising £3,000 and manager Dave Mitchell is confident his staff and customers will help the shop reach this goal.

He said: “It will be more than just a case of collection buckets in store.

“We don’t have finalised plans yet, but we will be holding a number of events throughout the year to raise money for Mencap.

“We have set ourselves a challenge and we are all focused on achieving it.”
