A device believed by police to be a piece of ship’s sonar equipment was found washed up on a beach by a member of the public.
On Monday 6 January Humber Coast Guard were alerted to the find on South Beach close to The Spa Bridlington at around 3pm.
Upon arrival to the finder’s address the team assessed the 4ft long object and identified it as a towed array sonar, which are usually attached to submarines or ships and are used to detect sound signals.
The Coastguard contacted Humberside Police at 4.16pm who took the object and are retaining it as a found item of property.
Anyone who believes the item belongs to them are asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting log number 472 of 6 January 2014.
