Flamborough Primary School have been awarded a Modeshift Silver Award at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council chambers.

Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel.

For this the school has undertaken a number of incentives and events over the past year such as- Fun, Fit Fridays, Halloween Bike Trails, Surveys and promoting safety while journeying to school.

Headteacher Mrs Blackburn was accompanied by two Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) to collect the award and there was better news on their arrival when they learned that the school had won a competition where schools were invited to make a short film entitled ‘The Joy of Cycling’. The JTAs plus two other volunteers put together a film where they shared their love of cycling in rhyming couplets.

The school has won a framed, authentic Endura jersey signed by the winning Giro d’Italia, MOvistar pro-cycling team.
