HOW many chocolates could you eat in a minute?

That is the question that Jamie Haste, who works at the Cheque Centre, in Manor Street, Bridlington, has been asking as he attempts to break two world records.

Jamie, 26, is hoping to break the Guinness World Record for eating the most Ferrero Rocher chocolates in a minute – with the current record standing at eight.

“I’ve had a few goes at it and I’ve been successful, so I think I’m able to do it,” said Jamie.

“I just wanted to have a go at doing a record and decided to do this one.

“I quite like Ferrero Rocher, they’re not my favourite, but I might get a bit sick of them by the end.”

A similar attempt took place on TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent, but Jamie, of Watersedge, Driffield, says his inspiration came when he was looking through the Guinness Book of Records with his nine-year-old daughter.

“She said, Dad, are you in this book? I said no, but then I started looking through it at some of the records to see what I could have a go at and I settled on this one.”

Jamie is also hoping to break the record for the quickest time to eat 15 of the chocolates, which currently stands at four minutes and 38 seconds.

“I’m hoping to break them both, you can only try two records out at a time and I think I can manage them,” continued Jamie, who also has a six-year-old son and an eight-week-old daughter. The Cheque Centre, where Jamie works, is sponsoring his efforts by paying for the chocolates and covering the expense of bringing the Guinness World Records assessor to the town, when he attempts the challenge later this year.
