The East Riding Council has turned down a controversial planning application to build a new waste facility at Beeford.

Councillors were unanimous in their decision to refuse the anaerobic digestion plant, following strong objection from residents.

Protesters argued the facility would worsen traffic, damage the character of open countryside and cause foul smells.

Their concerns were backed by councillors Jane Evison and Johnathan Owen, who publicly opposed the application at the committee today (Thursday April 14).
