Pub appeals sign decision

A BURTON Agnes pub and restaurant is appealing against a council’s refusal to grant it planning permission for an illuminated exterior sign.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council turned down the application by the Blue Bell Inn, in Main Street, to retain the sign because if felt it was an unduly large and intrusive form of advertising which has an adverse effect on the amenity of the locality due to its size, position, height above ground and colour and lettering.

The decision will now be considered by the Planning Inspectorate and an independent inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will visit the site before making his decision.
