Police in Bridlington have warned youngsters not to illegally graffiti the town’s skatepark - or anywhere else.

The message comes from PCSO Andrea Humphrey after she caught two boys, aged 11 and 15, for spraying paint around the Gasworx skatepark.

She will make the boys clean it up themselves, and hopes the shame will discourage other children.

PCSO Humphrey said: “There is a professional graffiti mural at the skatepark which is liked by everyone who uses it, but we are asking youngsters not to copy it in other areas.

“We found two young lads from CCTV who had sprayed their tags elsewhere in the park and that is not on. They will be made to come back and clean it off themselves, and we took their cans of paint off them.

“Other youngsters should take note and not do it themselves. It looks very messy and encourages others to come along and do the same.

“We have no problem with the professional graffiti artists’ work, but we don’t want to see it copied everywhere.”
