HUMBERSIDE Police has launched a new non-emergency telephone number, 101, which will replace the current 0845 6060222 number.
In January this year all 43 Chief Constables nationally agreed to adopt 101 as the new police non-emergency number.
The change started in July this year and will continue until January 2012, with all of the existing non emergency numbers to stop in March 2012.
Humberside Police launched the new number alongside Lincolnshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Nottinghamshire.
101 was originally launched in 2006 as a number used by local authorities to report anti-social behaviour and has now been redesigned to enable the public to report crime and disorder, which doesn’t need an emergency response.
All information on the new number can be found at www.homeoffice.gov.uk/101.
