Officers were called to the scene at around 5.55pm after the driver had drove off in the cab to get help, leaving the trailer behind.

He later returned to the scene and told officers Poundland had arranged recovery of the trailer.

A structural engineer was called to assess the damage to the house and a lamppost damaged in the collision was made safe by East Riding of Yorkshire Council workers.

The road was reopened at 8.40pm and no one was injured.

Police are asking that anyone with information call 101, quoting log 350 of January 14.
