A COUPLE who met at a party are preparing to party once again to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
Dorothy Boynton, 80, and her husband of 60 years Henry, 82, first set eyes on each other at a party at a house on St John’s Walk, in Bridlington.
And this weekend the couple will be partying again as they are joined by their family for an anniversary celebration at Manor Court, in Carnaby.
Mr and Mrs Boynton were married at Christ Church in Bridlington on Thursday October 18, 1952 but both admit that their big day does not feel that long ago.
The couple went on to have two sons - Stewart and David who both live in Bridlington - and now have six grand-children, aged from 19 to 27, and three great grandchildren aged four, seven and eight.
“We have had some good times,” said Dorothy who shares a love of gardening with her husband.
And the secret to a long and happy marriage according to the couple is a bit of give and take.
“The secret is to just get on with it. If you fall out just get on with it. People fall out these days and just get up and go,” Mr Boynton said.
“You have got to give and take,” Mrs Boynton added.
