AN IMPRESSIVE total was handed over to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association by outgoing Bridlington Mayor Shelagh Finlay.

She presented a cheque for £2,312 to representatives from the charity, which coun Finlay had chosen as her charity to support during her year as mayor.

At the first meeting of Bridlington Town Council since the local elections, Coun Shaun Marsburg was appointed the new Mayor of Bridlington.

At the meeting, Coun Finlay presented the Town Council with a crystal decanter as a thank you for their support.

She said: “It has been an honour and a pleasure to represent the town.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone in the town, and all the councillors have been fantastic in their support.

“Being mayor is all about representing the town, and I was very pleased to be able to hand over a cheque for more than £2,000 to SSAFA.”
