A NEW Bridlington book shop is hoping to promote and help local authors get published.

Lodge Books, which opened at South Back Lane in August this year, has recently begun stocking books by local authors such as Trev Haymer and Mike Wilson - with owner Susan Hutchinson saying the shop will offer advice to aspiring Bridlington writers on how to self publish.

Susan said: “I think it is important to have an outlet for local writing talent, and somewhere for local people to come and be able to buy it. We’re delighted to do it.

“I have a book case in the corner with books from three local authors - with more planned - and I want to see it full eventually.”

Lodge books does have a website, www.lodgebooks.co.uk but Susan said that some people want a more personal service.

“Some are not as comfortable online as others. That goes for customers and authors, so we will always try to help anyone that comes along, whether it be finding them a book or helping them self publish.”
