Students from East Riding College are preparing to display their designs for a new logo for use at a Bridlington community centre at an exhibition next Tuesday.

Around 15 students visited the newly refurbished Hinge Centre on Field road on Friday to look around and prepare the designs for the public display at which the winning logo will be chosen to decorate the new centre’s letterheads, business cards and signage.

The Hinge Centre will re-open at the end of the month and will provide a number of services including a youth club, community cafe, job club and IT skills training service to help support the residents and young people of the nearby Havenfield Estate.

The re-opening comes following a three month refurbishment which has seen the centre knocked through and expanded into an adjacent property.

The centre at 21 Field road acquired the lease to 19 Field Road, some time ago but planning permission for its “change of use” was only granted last September.

A fitted kitchen, toilet facilities, tiling and fire doors were all donated to the centre by a local building supplier and fitted free of charge.

Martin Crossland Strategic Development Manager at the Hinge Centre said: “From what I have seen the logo designs look fantastic, the students deserve some recognition for the hard work they have undertaken.

“If we had looked anywhere else for the new designs it would have cost us a fortune”.
