In a planning statement, the applicant says: “With the redevelopment of the Public House/Restaurant the main factor for the developed site, the proposal

for the Marston’s Inn will be to provide a connection with this development and provide the site with a cohesive scheme which will provide a sense of “being” within the community area.

“The proposal will offer a service to local housing as well as visitors to the area. Development of the site will bring a new identity to a previously redundant land use providing a linked site development with the existing public house.”

The accommodation will be split over two floors and will include 27 bedrooms with ensuite facilities including a number of family rooms and rooms with full

disabled access.

The existing parking area allows for 74 cars, with the new proposal taking this figure up to 118 parking spaces.

Marston’s Plc are a nationwide provider of public house and retail leisure uses and operate more than 2,000 premises throughout the country spanning over 180 years.

In a planning statement, the applicant says: “On the basis that the proposed development represents a source of employment and indeed represents an extension to the existing, predominantly family leisure use on the site and furthermore would not have any adverse impact on the character of the landscape.

“The retention of trees on within the site helps soften the visual impact of the building such that views of the lodge would be filtered by the existing

vegetation which already serves as a strong visual delineation along the site’s boundaries. Together with the pub/restaurant, the two buildings would portray

a continuity of design which ultimately will enhance the site.”

The application will be considered by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning committee in February.

It comes after Travelodge confirmed intentions to build a new hotel in the town and Premier Inn agreeing to purchase Beaconsfield Car Park for the construction of an 80-bedroom hoel.

Bridlington Golf Club also recently announced plans for a new 12-bedroom hotel to be built in the town.
