A Bridlington woman has organised a letters to Santa service to raise money for a six-day charity bike ride across Africa she plans to complete next year.

Melanie Atkins, 26, of St James’ Road, hopes to raise £3,000 so she can take on the mammoth bike ride across Tanzania in the summer.

She said: “I want to raise money for Jo’s Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer UK and Cervical Cancer Action.

“Cancer is something that affects a lot of people, including my family.”

Melanie has now organised a service for children so their letters to Santa can be returned.

She added: “I have always enjoyed Christmas a lot, and I’m a big kids person so I thought it would be lovely.

“I will be returning children’s letters to Santa Clause for a donation of £4 - they will also get a little bag of sweets for their contribution.

“I have organised it with Beckie May’s Sweet Shop in the Promenade Shopping Centre, you can leave your letters there and I will return them to you from Santa Claus himself!”

If you and your child would like a returned letter from Santa Claus you can drop off you letter at Beckie May’s Sweet Shop in the Promenade.

You can also donate towards Melanie’s bike by texting the code MJAX99 to 70070.
