A SKIPSEA couple have just celebrated 60 years of married life.
The diamond pair, Peter and Betty Sterriker had a celebration party, with a special cake made by a friend a VIP visit by Bridlington’s Mayor and Mayoress Shaun and Jackie Marsburg - and a card from Her Majesty The Queen.
“We had a lovely time,” said Betty. They were also joined by relatives from Carlisle for their special day.
Married at Skipsea church in 1951 Peter, 89, was a farm worker and Betty also helped on the farm and for a while worked at Carlton’s store, now Boyes, also Roberts accountants in Beck Hill, Bridlington.
For many years they farmed a 90 acre tenancy at Skipsea with Peter’s late brother Maurice.
Ill health meant Peter moved into The Regent residential hotel in North Marine Drive in 2008, to be followed by Betty in 2009, where they both say they are very happy.
