A man was taken to hospital with flash and blast injuries to his face following a fire in Carnaby Industrial Estate.

Yesterday evening (Thursday 25 July) at 6.32 fire engines from Bridlington station were on the scene at Dam Structures, Heron House, Lancaster Road, in Carnaby.

The man, thought to be in his late 30s, was taken to Scarborough District General Hospital by paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service and three fire engines extinguished the blaze.

Humberside Fire Service said one acetylene cylinder and an oxyacetylene cylinder were involved in the fire, and fire crews remained on scene until around 9.30pm to ensure the cylinders were fully cooled.
