A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Both cars collided head on just after a bend near two miles north of Beeford, resulting in the driver of the Ford Focus sadly being pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Volvo driver sustained abdominal injuries and chest pain, which are believed to be minor.

“At the time of the collision, the weather was clear and bright, however there had been heavy rain earlier in the day which had left the 60MPH single carriageway with a very wet road surface.

“Officers investigating the collision are now appealing for anyone who witnessed either car prior to the collision to get in contact.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 531 of 01/08/2015.”

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.21pm on Saturday 1 August and arrived at Lissett Bridge at 8.35pm.

“Both drivers needed to be released and one was taken to hospital by ambulance.”
