A LARGE tree fell into a road and crushed a moving car in Bridlington as high winds whistled around the town.

The tree fell on a black Volvo XC90 car, on the A164 close to Bessingby, at around 9.20am this morning (Friday December 7).

It is believed that two women were travelling in the car when the tree fell, partially crushing the vehicle.

Police have confirmed that no injuries were suffered by those involved.

The road was closed for around three hours after the incident, but has now re-opened to traffic.
