A town councillor has called for East Riding of Yorkshire Council to “pull its finger out” and take action over land frequently occupied by travellers.
Councillor Cyril Marsburg voiced his anger after travellers set up on land on Bessingby Road in Bridlington just one day after a previous group had been moved from the site.
He said: “It is not right, something needs to be done about it once and for all. It is just beyond a joke, it really is.
“That is one of the main roads into Bridlington it is just not good enough really. I think the council need to get their finger out and do something about it.
A council spokesperson said: “The council is aware that a group of travellers has set up an encampment on Bessingby Road and will seek to move them on through the usual legal processes. The authority is also looking a various options to secure the site long-term.”
