The hosts of Christmas past
THE SUN shone and the crowds turned out in force for the best ever Bempton Victorian Christmas market.
More than 1,000 people packed the annual event on Sunday, which in previous years has been hit by bad weather.
Coun Richard Burton, chairman of the organising committee, said: "It was a really wonderful day. We had more than 40 stalls and plenty of entertainment and all the local village stalls did well for their own charities or causes."
Visitors who flooded in between 11am and 4pm saw East Riding of Yorkshire Council chairman councillor Brian Pearson officially open the market.
The Children of the Mist pipe band marched through the streets and played at the market.
The Christmas choir from Bempton School and the Methodist Carol Singers helped add to the festive feel and there was children's entertainment from Punch and Judy, a magic show and of course Santa who paid a visit.
