Scooter trip

AN ENERGETIC Bridlington youngster is preparing to ride six miles on his scooter this weekend in aid of Sport Relief.

Headlands School pupil Alistair Potter, 12, came up with the idea of raising money through sponsorship from family and neighbours for the six-mile round trip to Bempton from his Danescroft home in Bridlington.

His mum, Clare, said that she was very proud of Alistair and added that he came up with the whole idea himself.

“He’d been harping on for ages about doing something for Sport Relief,” she said. “So his brother Lawrence sent off for a fund-raising pack and out of nowhere he came up with the idea of the scooter ride.

“I was really proud of him, I thought it was great that he thought of doing it all by himself and he went off round the neighbourhood collecting sponsorship money.

“His grandad lives at Bempton so he said that he’d stop off there for a drink before heading back to Bridlington.”

Dad Gary, will cycle beside him as he tackles the route on Saturday.
