Robbers attack attendant at Bridlington petrol station
A PETROL station attendant was left 'terrified and shocked' after an attack by two men in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 60-year-old was working at the Esso garage on Scarborough Road at about 1am when he was allegedly set upon by two men who kicked and punched him to the ground.
It is also believed that the assailants hit the worker with unknown object before taking him into the petrol station through the back entrance.
After a short time, the men left empty-handed and fled the scene in a blue Nissan Primera – leaving their victim temporarily unconscious and suffering minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Police cordoned off an area of Scarborough Road for several hours to conduct forensic examinations and two men aged 28 and 23 from Bradford were later arrested in connection with the incident but were released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are eager for anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward and Det Insp Colin Waddington of Humberside Police, said: "The 60-year-old petrol station attendant encountered a terrifying and shocking
ordeal.
"Whilst at work, two men allegedly assaulted him in a bid to potentially rob the petrol station, however they left the scene empty-handed.
"The victim is being looked after by specialist officers, who are able to offer reassurance and support.
"I really need anyone who may have been in the area of Scarborough Road in Bridlington who saw anything suspicious to come forward."
Anybody with any information about the incident is urged to contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, quoting crime reference number CW/1771836/2010.
