Police commissioner vote count begins at Bridlington Spa

VOTES for the Humberside’s first ever Police and Crime Commissioner are being counted at Bridlington Spa this morning.

The count was due to begin at around 11.30am in the Royal Hall.

Voter turnout in the election for the entire Humberside Police force area was 19.48%.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council area saw the highest turnout in the region with 23.19%, while 15.65% of the electorate voted in Hull.

Seven candidates stood in the election - Labour’s John Prescott, Matthew Grove of the Conservative Party, Simone Butterworth of the Liberal Democrats, former Bridlington police chief Paul Davison, independents Walter Sweeney and Neil Eyre and UKIP’s Godfrey Bloom.
