Police appeal following alleged racially motivated assault in Bridlington

Police are investigating an alleged racially motivated assault which is reported as having happened around 4.30pm on Friday 16 May on South Marine Drive in Bridlington.

Two men of Asian appearance were seated on the sea wall at around 4.30pm on Friday 16 May when they claim to have been approached by an unknown man who engaged them in conversation.

The three men were then said to have walked together towards the Lifeboat Station and a further three men joined them.

The two men of Asian appearance stated that they attempted to run away but were detained by the four unknown men and assaulted, being thrown to the floor where they were reported to have been kicked and punched.

The assault was said to have taken place close to the Marina Café on South Marine Drive in Bridlington.

The victims of the alleged assault sustained cuts and bruises to the face and head and received treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary but were not detained.

One man aged 38 was arrested following the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The suspects are all described as white men aged between 25 and 35 years old and wearing white T shirts.
