Plans in place to regenerate Bridlington
Bridlington's park and ride scheme, which is due to open at Easter, is not the only regeneration project taking place.

The Spa Gardens
This makeover for the area around the Spa includes controversial plans for Pembroke Gardens, a new Spa Plaza near the Spa entrance, a new Spa slipway and new-look south foreshore banks to create a new and distinctive look for the area.
Work is complete on creating new white concrete retaining walls down the new slipway and is continuing on the new south foreshore banks.
Excavation work continues on the Spa Plaza where York Stone paving laid for the opening of the Spa was controversially dug up to be replaced by a new covering of white and grey granite featuring a red carpet of lights.
But the changes, which were already causing traffic problems in the area, suddenly got worse for traders when South Marine Drive was closed to through-traffic this week for an estimated 10 weeks, from the south end of the Spa to the top of the Spa slipway, including its junctions with Horsforth Avenue and Pembroke Terrace.
This is to enable the new surface to be laid but has also meant the loss of on-street parking spaces, which will not be replaced under the new scheme.
According to John Lister, head of Bridlington Regeneration, once that work is complete it will be re-opened and resurfacing work will move to the south of Horsforth Avenue, which will mean another closure.
"We do appreciate the problems we are causing but we cannot do it at any other time of the year.
"Access will always be maintained to the Spa," said Mr Lister.
It would mean, he said, that Spa visitors could be dropped off at the roundabout near the front of the Spa and, if necessary, park in the harbour top car park or in areas around West Street and New Burlington Road while work continued.
"It is at the quietest part of the year and there are few tourists," he said.
Pembroke Gardens
The subject of a further public consultation at the end of last month into proposals to plant the area with trees and granite block seats to create a public performance feature, as a spin-off of the Spa, the council has now commissioned consultants to look at potential activities and entertainment uses.
"It would be a high quality outside events space which does not exist anywhere else on the east coast, including Scarborough," said Mr Lister, who said 90% of the York stone from around the Spa had been reclaimed and more than half of that would be used in the Pembroke Gardens scheme, with the remainder being used elsewhere.
"It is the intention that the Spa will manage the space to some extent with a programme of outdoor events which may relate to what is going on at the Spa itself.
"It could also be used for community events but it will still remain a public open space."
Hilderthorpe Road
The council now owns a number of properties in Hilderthorpe Road and some nearby areas in readiness for its redevelopment as an improved main route into the town centre.
“We are aware there are some concerns about its appearance but we are not yet in a position to begin demolition or clearance.
“There are still a number of properties in private ownership,” said Mr Lister.
Plans for the area also include creating a feature of the Gypsey Race.
The Marina
The council, Yorkshire Forward and Bridlington’s Harbour Commissioners are said to be in ongoing discussions.
“We have agreed the profile of the marina and its eventual capacity of 320 berths.
“The next significant step is the creation of a business plan which will then be put to consultants once the complete layout is finalised,” said Mr Lister.
